The digital locking mechanisms are a blessing and a curse at the same time. They allow you to quickly and securely get in and out of the garage, but once you forget the code, you will be locked out for a reasonable amount of time.
Well, we once faced the same situation. We got locked out of the garage. There was no one inside the home to open the door from the inside either. And this will happen even with the best garage door keypads.
But we knew how to change/reset garage door code without old code. And we are here to show you how to do it properly, so you do not have to rely on a professional solely.
How to Reset Garage Door Code?
Allow us to start with the most common way of resetting the door code. This detailed guide will apply to most of the doors unless it has a door stopper behind it. So, without further ado, let us get into describing the steps, shall we?

Step 1: Access the Garage Doors Motor
Get through the main door and get yourself a ladder. Place it directly under the motor and climb up to it. There should be two motors on both sides of the door be it a sectional or rolling garage door. Make sure that you can access both.
Step 2: Reset the Motor
After you have located the motors, look for the reset button. It should be in the control panel. Press and hold on to this button for a while. The light beside it should go off after the motor resets. The old code will be wiped out of the memory at this point. Reset it carefully, otherwise there could be a gap in your garage door.
Step 3: Enter the New Code
Once you have reset the motor, it will be time to program new code into the system. Go to the keypad and keep on holding the reset button until the light near the switch turns on. Then, enter your desired code, and you will notice that the light has started blinking.
Press and hold the button of the motor again. It will convert from the blinking state to a static state. Keep on holding the button until this light has turned off. All you need to do is reprogram the remotes now.

To do that, just press and hold the button of the remote. You will notice that the light of the motor has started blinking again. That indicates that you have successfully reprogrammed the remote.
How to Reset Clicker Garage Door Keypad?
The Clicker garage doors are pretty popular. And if you have forgotten the code of these types of doors, these are the steps that you would need to follow:

Step 1: Reach the Motor of the Locking Mechanism
The first step is the same as the previous method. You would need to reach the motor of the opening and closing mechanism. It will be located at the top of the door opener. Take the help of a ladder to safely reach the motor and move along to the next step.
Step 2: Locate the Learn Knob
Now, you would need to search for the learn knob. It can be located on either one of the sides of the motor. Press and hold the knob until the lights stop illuminating. It will erase the password from memory, and you will be capable of setting a new code now.
Step 3: Enter a New Code
Tap the learn knob again and make the light illuminate. Get down from the ladder and go to the keypad. Enter your preferred code and enter the enter button. Hold it until the light of the door opener blinks again.
At this moment, you have successfully removed the old password, and you can use the new one to enter and close the door.
