Get through the main door and get yourself a ladder. Place it directly under the motor and climb up to it. There should be two motors on both sides of the door be it a sectional or rolling garage door. Make sure that you can access both.

Step 2: Reset the Motor

After you have located the motors, look for the reset button. It should be in the control panel. Press and hold on to this button for a while. The light beside it should go off after the motor resets. The old code will be wiped out of the memory at this point. Reset it carefully, otherwise there could be a gap in your garage door.

Step 3: Enter the New Code

Once you have reset the motor, it will be time to program new code into the system. Go to the keypad and keep on holding the reset button until the light near the switch turns on. Then, enter your desired code, and you will notice that the light has started blinking.

After getting to the motor, open the panel that is on the left side of the unit. You will notice a lot of mechanisms and buttons available on the body after opening it.

Once you get access to the inside of the motor, you need to search for the learn button. Depending on the door's model, it might be purple and square or round and yellow in color and shape. Press it and hold it for at least 8 seconds. The LED will go off at this point.

We are referring to the * and # buttons here. The red light should blink a couple of times after you press these two buttons simultaneously.

Now, you would need to enter the new four-digit password on the remote. Type any number from 1 to 9 and press the pound button. Then, press the type of garage door opener. It can be found on the backside of the device. Press the hash button again.

  • Enter the password and press the up/ down button. The LEDs will remain solid at this point. Press the up/down button again. This time the LEDs will turn off.
  • Press any key to stop the opener. It will stop at the fully open position or at the fully closed position. You will also notice that the backlight will turn off after about 30 seconds.

If you want to program your keypad for opening multiple doors, follow these steps:

  • On your wireless keypad, enter the pin and tap on the program button. Press it again, and it should show the number of doors you want to control. Choose 2 or 3 and press the program button again.
  • Head to the garage door opener powerhead and select the first opener. Press the set/program button. Hold it until the two LEDs turn blue.
  • Release the button. At this point, the round LED will turn blue. Press the up/down button. The LED will turn off at this point.
  • Press any key to stop the opener. Like before, it will automatically stop while being in a fully closed or fully open position. You will also notice that the backlit of the keypad will turn off after about 30 seconds.
